Residency: Cumberland Regional High School

On February 4th, 2013 I began a 10 week residency at Cumberland Regional High School in Seabrook, NJ. I will be working with students to create 3 panels for the transoms over the entrance to the Performing Arts Center. During planning meetings with the school we arrived at a theme incorporating imagery from Cumberland County. Students in the high school engaged in collecting oral histories from family members to be considered for the final design.

In planning for this project, I thought back to panels I designed for Ocean County Library in Tom's River as an approach to this project. These panels depict images from the history of Ocean County.

Nunc Licet Panel for Bryn Athyn College

DESCRIPTION
I proposed this design for a glass panel to be created for above the fireplace in the first floor lobby of the Brickman Center at Bryn Athyn College. The image features the Alpha & Omega symbol which is associated with the College and the Bryn Athyn community. The artwork would be created on mirrored glass with laminated pigments and gilding. The installation features interactive lighting elements. See details below.

Panel as first viewed
The faint imagery in the background includes drawings for the stained glass panels in the Bryn Athyn Cathedral which depict the succession of churches. Adding a further textural layer the writings of Swedenborg appear in latin text. As the viewer approaches the artwork proximity sensors trigger embedded lights. The words "Nunc Licet" and the image of the "Open Word" gradually become visible.
